A community of love and belonging
At Sacred Heart, our Catholic faith shapes our commitment to the dignity of every child. We want all children to feel that they belong, to participate fully in school life and to develop their gifts.
Parents and carers are essential partners in their children’s education. We value your knowledge of your child and want to work with you to celebrate progress, understand difficulties and agree helpful next steps.
Working in partnership with families
Our Unite, Achieve and Celebrate approach helps us share information, discuss children’s learning and recognise their achievements.
ACHIEVE offers regular opportunities to speak with a SENCO or our Senior Pastoral Lead about additional needs, wellbeing and Family Help. Please see the ACHIEVE page for the current dates.
You do not need to wait for a drop-in session if you have a concern. Please speak to your child’s class teacher or contact the school office to arrange a conversation.

Our Inclusion Strategy
Our Inclusion Strategy explains how we remove barriers to learning and participation across the school. It sets out our approach to adaptive teaching, individual support, independence, attendance, belonging and access to the wider life of Sacred Heart.
It brings together our priorities for 2026–2027, planned use of resources, intended outcomes and arrangements for reviewing impact. It should be read alongside our SEN Information Report and Accessibility Plan.
SEN Information Report 2026
Our SEN Information Report explains how Sacred Heart identifies additional needs, plans and reviews support, and works with children, parents and carers. It includes information about teaching, specialist support, accessibility, transitions and arrangements for discussing concerns.
Please contact the school office if you would like a paper copy or need help accessing this information in another format. Telephone 01942 634681 or email office@sacred-heart.bolton.sch.uk.
How we plan and review support
We use a graduated approach called Assess, Plan, Do, Review (APDR). This helps us understand a child’s needs, agree appropriate support and check whether it is making a difference.
Assess
Gather information about strengths, needs and barriers to learning, including the views of the child and their family.
Plan
Agree outcomes, teaching adaptations and any additional support, with clear arrangements for reviewing progress.
Do
Put the agreed support into practice. The class teacher remains responsible for the child’s teaching and learning.
Review
Consider progress and the impact of support with the child and family, then agree what should continue or change.
SEND support plans and APDR cycles are reviewed termly, with parents and carers involved in reviewing progress and agreeing next steps. Concerns can be discussed sooner when needed.
Where a child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), the statutory annual review takes place alongside our ongoing monitoring and termly support reviews.
School policies and accessibility
Accessibility Plan 2026–2029
Our Accessibility Plan sets out how we plan to improve accessibility and remove barriers to participation. Please contact school to discuss your child’s individual needs or any access arrangements you require.
Please let us know about any access requirements when arranging a visit or meeting, so that we can discuss appropriate arrangements with you. Paper copies and assistance accessing these documents are available through the school office.
School policies
Our School Policies page provides access to the school’s policies, including SEND and the School Offer, equality information and objectives, provision for more and most able pupils, looked after children, and the complaints procedure.
