Keeping Children Safe
Our school takes part in a project that runs jointly with the Greater Manchester Police Force. Operation Encompass is the mechanism for reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, where a child or young person has experienced, any domestic abuse. Operation Encompass ensures that a member of the school staff (DSL), known as a Key Adult, is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been experienced a domestic abuse incident.
We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and believe this is extremely beneficial for all those involved.
“We need to see each child as a gift to be welcomed, cherished and protected. And we need to care for our young people, not allowing them to be robbed of hope and condemned to life on the streets.”
Pope Francis, January 2015, Philippines.

Local recurring priority areas:
Current LA-wide safeguarding priorities are: neglect, exploitation, domestic abuse and thresholds of need. Drug abuse, youth violence and knife crime are also issues in the local area.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy which can be read in the Policies section of our website.
Sometimes, we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Duty to counter radicalism and extremism.
We are compliant with all current safeguarding legislation and guidance:
