Remote Education Provision: Information for Parents

Google Classroom is our remote education platform. Every year group has a dedicated teacher, during lockdown for key worker/vulnerable pupil provision, and a teacher working in parallel with those accessing remote learning. Every day, work is set for all classes which is to be submitted (on Google Classroom) by the due date for feedback. Classes have collective worship, registration and wellbeing meetings daily via their Google Meet link: the daily schedules include a mix of live lessons, recorded input and other tasks. Some small group or individual Meets also occur in each year group, focused on phonics, reading and multiplication tables. The catch-up programme is also delivered remotely to identified learners. Any children with Education, Health & Care Plans who are not in school also have regular Meets with their Special Needs Assistant.

Mental Health matters, and in Children’s Mental Health week, all classes will be taking an extra focus on this important area of our wellbeing.

Listen to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, talk about Mental Health:

If any parent has any question about remote learning, or if support of any kind is required, we encourage contact with class teacher / Miss Middleton.

The Google platform will work on all Windows, Android and Apple devices, including tablets, phones and even XBoxes!

We understand that many in our school family are struggling during this lockdown. This site from Childline has many activities where you can work with your child to help them with their anxieties.

Emotional Health & Wellbeing

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic is affecting everyone’s daily lives. Regardless of their age, this may be a difficult time for children and young people. How a child or young person reacts can vary according to their age, how they understand information and communicate, their previous experiences, and how they typically cope with stress. Negative reactions may include worrying thoughts about their health or that of family and friends, fear, avoidance, problems sleeping, or physical symptoms such as stomach ache. During this time, it’s important that you take care of your family’s mental health – there are lots of things you can do, and support is available if you need it.

Do you love to sing?
English Touring Opera have made some inclusive and engaging music content during this period of lockdown.
They are producing two series of singing lessons: one for adults, and one for kids. They’re free, and all delivered by artists who would have been singing on this spring tour. There are a number of each series available online already and more to come. They have also produced online workshops for children with SEND. These free online music workshops for children with SEND are delivered at 11am on Wednesdays via a YouTube Live stream. The past workshops are also available to watch.
