Our Governors attend regular briefings and training, including at the Diocese of Salford. Governors evaluate the strategic development of our school using the Salford 5W Framework and other materials. They operate by the Nolan Principles.

Our Governors are: (& start date of 4 year term of office)

Foundation  Governors

Foundation Governors are appointed by the Bishop of Salford. Their term of office is 4 years. The  Parish Priest is an ex-offico governor, and the term of office is linked to time in role as Parish Priest.

Elected Parent Governors

Mrs Anita Spibey 01April2015 | Mr Nick Highton 01April2015

Parent Governors are voted in by eligible parents. They have a 4 year term of office. Parent Governors do not carry an obligation to express any views apart from their own and do not represent the parent body.

The definition of parent under education law covers:

  • all natural parents whether they are married or not;
  • any person who has parental responsibility for a child or young person;
  • any person who has care of a child or young person i.e. lives with and looks after the child.

The school will need to decide who comes within the definition of parent in respect of a particular pupil but generally parents include all those with day to day responsibility for a child.

Staff Governors

Mr Martin Johnson (Ex-officio) 01Jan2006 | Mrs Diane Furlong (elected) 13Dec2016

Associate Members

None

The option for governing boards to appoint associate members was introduced in 2003. Associate members are not governors and do not form part of the constitution of the board of governors. They are additional people who bring useful skills to an aspect of the work.

One staff governor is elected by eligible members of the staff team. Their term of office is 4 years. The Headteacher is an ex-offico governor, and the term of office is linked to time in role as executive leader of the school.
